Locate control inside
Minimally important outside, maximally — inside
Focus is where your effort points. Locus is where it comes from.
I still haven’t fully absorbed this move of the locus inside. That I am at the center of my perception — and everything happens only to me and around me.
The formula: minimally important on the outside, maximally important on the inside. Unfussy but selective. Do no harm and take no shit. Outer lightness, inner firmness — four wordings of one position.
It only works on joy. While the load-bearing structure is fear, you matter outside and stand empty inside: you cling to the external because there’s nothing inside to stand on. Fear holds through compression, joy — through fullness.
The same words from a person running on fear sound like a pose. From a person running on joy — like a fact.
Move the locus inside.
