No slavery
Not against work — against slavery
Not against work. Against slavery.
Three levels:
- UNDER — surviving. Just to not…
- IN — living. Inside, participating, pulling the strap.
- ABOVE — existing. Separately. Watching and doing what you need.
The goal is ABOVE. Don’t harness yourself. Don’t pile it on. Be OUTSIDE.
There’s a torture: a person sits in an office for a long, long time, and the salary drips onto his card very, very slowly, and he goes mad from it.
I worked as a sysadmin once: set everything up, nobody bothered me — I’d come to my office and code remotely for myself. When I left, it turned out three months of salary had piled up. I had forgotten about it.
Out of 59 active years — to just sit in silence, do a hobby, walk without rushing, you’ve got a total of just over 6 years. We spend 84% of our conscious time paying for housing and food we only need so we can go back to work tomorrow.
You don’t work for someone. The work works for you. Let it pay for your growth. Let it strengthen you. Let it fund your escape.
Don’t fight. Use everything for yourself.
Find a way to be paid for playing. — Alan Watts
Work is extraction. Make sure you’re the one extracting.
Work on your life, not in it.
