Just want it harder

The thing you do when nobody is watching, that you’d do for free, that loses you in time — that’s the signal. Not a hobby. The center.

I spent a long time choosing things because they were responsible, strategic, what people do. They all collapsed. The things I actually did when I had a free hour — writing, freediving, building small useless websites — those didn’t collapse. They paid me. They became the work.

Not because they were planned to. Because that’s where my energy actually went, and energy compounds.

For one week, notice what you do in the gaps — between meetings, before bed, on Sunday morning. Not what you should do. What you actually reach for when nobody is grading you.

That’s the lead. Follow it. The excuses for not following it are all noise.
