Move the locus inside
Least important outside, most important inside
Focus is where your effort points. Locus is where it comes from: the point in your mind where “you” begin.
It’s like the needle on a record. Move it to higher frequencies.
I still haven’t fully taken in this shift of the locus inside: I’m at the center of my own perception, and everything happens only to me and around me.
The formula: least important outside, most important inside. Low-maintenance, but choosy. Do no harm and don’t let yourself be pushed around. Outer lightness, inner firmness.
It only works on joy. While fear is the load-bearing wall, you’re big on the outside and hollow inside: you cling to the outside because there’s nothing inside to stand on. Fear holds by squeezing, joy by filling.
Power’s out — they pulled the meter over an unpaid bill. The bike won’t start. Whatever, I’m loving it. What problem?
On fear, the same words sound like a pose. On joy, like a fact.
Move the locus inside.
